Randall Wade

There are more Americans traveling than of all other foreigners combined. They buy the most expensive goods and fine arts that are being made.

—Randall Wade, 1871

Randall Wade was a prominent Clevelander (no jokes please) who traveled to Europe with his family in 1870-71. I haven’t left the Quatttrocento, not really, I’m just on a sideways journey looking at it through the eyes of nineteenth century travelers.
